Hey,

today is German Butterbrot Day.

I say this as someone occasionally known as Kuchenopa (cake grandpa) so I do have some standing in the field of baked carbs.

I'll also use this occasion to send you new work I created on private islands, expedition ships or in studios.

I did three hospitality campaigns in two years. Either I've found a niche, or the niche has found me.

01 — RECENT WORK

dot here,
ultra luxury in paradise

The island is called dot here — lowercase, no metaphor, basically a placeholder that made it all the way to the Indian Ocean.

In pre-production, the owners told us they position themselves above Four Seasons. For once, geography more or less supports the claim.

We arrived by seaplane, colonized with truck loads of gear despite repeated instructions to pack light.

I directed, DP'd, flew drones and did the underwater shots. Since this isn't my first rodeo of this kind the results are not too shabby, but judge for yourself.

Ten Seconds
of Hydration

The Evian x Caro Daur film runs approximately one breath long. We shot it in a Hamburg studio under artificial snow.

In the age of expensive hard-drive space, you could call this remarkably economical filmmaking.

Considerably more time went into choosing outfits than recording footage.

The mountain did the rest.

There was no mountain.

Layers
in Sweden

Gothenburg in May: one day in the studio, then two hours north to a national park that looked suspiciously like Milos (Greece) with a nordic Instagram filter applied.

The Swedes have solved the cardamom bun. We attempted to solve layering.

Possibly the only honest metaphor for a German autumn.

03 — BERLIN / CICLOPE

Let's meet
at Ciclope in Berlin

I'll be at Ciclope Festival, October 6–8.

At the old location I had developed a reasonably sophisticated system involving the best barista, the shortest coffee queue and exactly how late one could arrive at a talk.

New venue, so years of institutional knowledge have been thrown out the window.
