This was my second time around with VanMoof. The first time was about the people; this time, it was about the collision of a posh, high-tech object and a city that doesn't care about your warranty. We took these pristine machines into the grittiest corners of Berlin to see if they’d blink.

We treated the bike and the city as equal protagonists. To bridge the gap between "clean design" and "street grit," I went down a technical rabbit hole: capturing locations via Gaussian splatting and rebuilding them in Unreal Engine to pull off impossible camera moves. Mixed with the raw, fuzzy reality of MiniDV, it created a visual language that felt like the city itself—beautiful, but a little bit broken. In the end, the "unpleasant" conditions were exactly what the imagery needed. Some experiments justify the headache. This was one of them.
